ADEPT HAS STARTED A WEB PAGE DEDICATED TO THE NOVEMBER 2020 PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION ON THE PLATFORM WWW.ALEGERI.MD

On October 20, 2020, the Association for Participatory Democracy ADEPT officially started a web page dedicated to the November 2020 presidential election on the platform www.alegeri.md.

The new page alegeri.md/w/2020 offers diverse information about the presidential election in a detached, objective, and unbiased way. The purpose of the web page is to contribute to a better information of citizens that have the vote about the 2020 presidential election, the election process, registered candidates, irregularities in the election process and how to report them, voting abroad, etc. so that they could vote consciously on Election Day.

The web page is divided into several sections. The section “Chronicles of the 2020 Presidential Election” () informs readers about the latest developments, news, and events related to the presidential campaign and election.

Another section presents the profiles of the eight candidates running for president of the country (). The candidates’ profiles include declarations of personal assets and interests, election manifestos, and statements made by the candidates from the beginning of the campaign on August 25, 2020. As of October 19, 2020, six of the eight candidates have published their electoral offers, and only three of them came up with detailed election manifestos that addressed several burning problems of interest for the populace. The other election manifestos offered only a summary vision about their candidates’ actions in the office of president.

Another section of the web page, “Cash Flow” (), presents data about the candidates’ spending and income reported to the CEC for the financing of initiative groups and the two weeks of electioneering. As of October 16, 2020, when the last financial report came in, two candidates have not yet opened a campaign fund account and reported 0 (zero) spending and income.

The section “Campaign Misconduct Reports” (alegeri.md/w/sesizări) contains forms for six types of reports on frauds and irregularities during campaign: Voter Corruption; Religious Faiths’ Involvement into Election Campaign; Noncompliant Election Canvassing; Candidates’ Failure to Report Spending; Irregularities in the Work of Election Management Bodies; and Noncompliance with the Mandatory Rules Set to Prevent and Combat the COVID-19 Infection.

The section also offers a step-by-step description of how to file campaign misconduct reports with competent authorities.

The section “List of Overseas Polling Stations” () offers the latest exhaustive information about the locations, contacts, and number of overseas polling stations set up for the current and previous presidential and parliamentary elections.

The web site www.alegeri.md was developed with the support of the Soros Foundation – Moldova as part of the project The 2020 Presidential Election: Inform Voters, Increase Conscious Participation.
